Court filings, contracts, the family history someone typed in 1994 — .wpd to Word or PDF.
The libwpd filter reads WordPerfect documents from the DOS 4.2 era through the modern X series — Windows and Mac releases both. Footnotes, tables and styles carry over; WordPerfect’s famous “reveal codes” quirks are interpreted, not reproduced.
DOCX if you want to keep editing, PDF if you want a faithful snapshot for the archive. TXT strips everything but the words — useful when only the content matters.
It’s written to a private temporary folder for the few seconds the conversion engine needs, then deleted — nothing is retained, logged or shared. No account, no email, no “files kept for 24 hours” fine print. These are often someone’s letters, family records or old business files; we treat them accordingly.
