Field notes

Does my sensor data survive?

Yes — heart rate, cadence and temperature are written as Garmin TrackPointExtension tags, the same convention Strava exports use, so apps that read them will pick them up. Position, elevation and timestamps carry over exactly. Power isn’t part of the GPX extension standard; if you need watts, use FIT → TCX.

Where is the FIT file on my device?

Plug the device in via USB: Garmin units keep activities in Garmin/Activities (watches may need Garmin Express or the Connect app export). Wahoo units expose ELEMNT/exports. Or export the original from Garmin Connect / Strava.

Is my data private?

Your file is never written to disk. It is parsed in memory, converted, sent back, and garbage-collected. No accounts, no tracking pixels, no “files are deleted after 24 hours” fine print — there is nothing to delete.
