The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad were held in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024 — Paris's third time as Olympic host (after 1900 and 1924) and the first Summer Games whose opening ceremony took place outside a stadium, on a 6 km route along the Seine.
The United States and China tied at 40 gold medals; the US topped the overall medal table.
